A minshuku (民宿) is a family-run traditional Japanese inn, more affordable than a ryokan. A minshuku is comparable to a bed and breakfast or guest house.

Guests sleep in tatami rooms and share home-cooked evening dinners and breakfasts with their hosts. A night with dinner and breakfast typically costs between ¥5,000 and ¥7,000.
