Kokūzō Bosatsu (虚空蔵菩薩, Akasagarbha) is the bodhisattva of wisdom and boundless space. Kūkai practiced the Gumonji-hō memory ritual dedicated to Kokūzō in a sea cave at Cape Muroto, a key turning point in his spiritual journey.
