Kechigan

Completing the pilgrimage, fulfilling the vow made at the start

Pilgrimagereviewed, to be validated

Kechigan (結願) means “fulfillment of the vow”: having visited the 88 temples of the Shikoku pilgrimage, whether in a single journey (tōshi-uchi) or in several (kugiri-uchi). It is usually celebrated at temple 88, Ōkubo-ji. Some consider that the pilgrimage is only fully complete after returning to the starting temple (orei-mairi), others that it must be completed at Kōya-san, where Kōbō Daishi rests.
