Osamefuda

Paper slip bearing one's name, deposited at each temple

GearPilgrimagenew, to be validated

The osamefuda (納札) is a small paper slip on which the pilgrim writes the date, their name, address, and prayer. One slip is placed in the designated boxes at the hondō and daishidō of each temple. Slips are also handed to locals as a gesture of thanks when receiving settai.

Its color reflects how many times the pilgrim has completed the circuit: white for initial circuits, then green, red, silver, gold, and finally brocade for those who have walked the trail over a hundred times.
